Softball Recap: Scituate Comes Up Short

Cumberland hit Scituate with a four-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Spartans came up short against the Clippers, falling 12-6. The Spartans have struggled against the Clippers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Victoria Geisser made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Katelyn Chatelle, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run.

Scituate's record is now 6-10. As for Cumberland, the victory snapped their losing streak at seven games and leaves them with a 2-14 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Scituate will host Johnston at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so the Spartans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Cumberland, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Prout at 4:30 p.m. The Crusaders will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Clippers surely won't give up without a fight.
