Basketball Recap: Upper Merion Area Falls Despite Big Games from Gabby Callison and Piper Edge

Upper Merion Area lost against Plymouth Whitemarsh back in January of 2016 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The game between the Upper Merion Area Vikings and the Plymouth Whitemarsh Colonials didn't end well, with the Upper Merion Area Vikings falling 47-31. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 226th, while the Colonials are ranked 50th).

Piper Edge and Gabby Callison certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Edge posted seven points and five boards, while Callison had three points and six rebounds. Callison is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Plymouth Whitemarsh's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Eliza Meersman led the charge by putting up ten points. Another player making a difference was Mckenna Winland, who earned 11 points.

Upper Merion Area's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Plymouth Whitemarsh, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Upper Merion Area wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 55-46 win against Pottsgrove on the 17th. As for Plymouth Whitemarsh, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 54-16 victory against Wissahickon on the 17th.
