Gregori has gone 9-1 against Pitman recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Gregori Jaguars will head out to square off against the Pitman Pride at 4:00 p.m. Gregori is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
It was a proper cat-fight when Gregori faced off against Modesto on Tuesday. Gregori never let Modesto get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The Jaguars haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Allyson Conway tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in May of 2024.
On the hitting side, NeVaeh Scheper was a standout: she scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Audrey Pacheco was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
Gregori always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Pitman didn't have quite enough to beat Downey on Tuesday and fell 12-11. The Pride have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Elyssa Alcazar was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing Four bases. while going 2-for-4. Tatiana Rios also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Gregori's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-2. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing 8.25 strikeouts in those games compared to only 3.83 in the others. As for Pitman, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
Pitman's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Gregori has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Pitman, though, as they've been averaging 9.6 hits. Given Gregori's sizable advantage in that area, Pitman will need to find a way to close that gap.
Gregori took their victory against Pitman in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 12-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gregori since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
