Basketball Game Preview: Bayside Bears vs. Armwood Hawks

The Bayside Bears will be taking part in a tournament against the Armwood Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Bayside has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with five straight losses, while Armwood will come in with three straight wins.

Bayside is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They lost to Vero Beach on the road by a 78-62 margin on Saturday.

Armwood hadn't beaten Middleton on the road since December 17, 2015 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Hawks took their matchup with ease, bagging a 72-45 victory over the Tigers. Fans of the Hawks have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Armwood found their leader in sophomore Sebastien Lefranc, who went 7-for-15 on his way to 20 points in addition to eight steals and five assists. Lefranc has also also been stellar as far as field goal percentage is concerned: he's posted one of at least 45% every time he's hit the court this season. Elijah Bernadin was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and 13 rebounds.

Armwood was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Bayside's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Armwood, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.
