Recap: Champaign Central Maroons vs. Tolono Unity Rockets
The Champaign Central Maroons lost against the Tolono Unity Rockets back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Champaign Central fell 55-46 to Tolono Unity. While losing is never fun, Champaign Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 141st, while Tolono Unity is ranked 23rd).
Several Maroons players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Axel Baldwin, who scored 11 points. Chris Bush was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Champaign Central's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 6-5. As for Tolono Unity, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Champaign Central will face off against Manual at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Tolono Unity, they will head out on the road to face off against Pleasant Plains at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
