Preview: Archbishop Curley Friars vs. John Carroll Patriots
The Archbishop Curley Friars will head out on the road to face off against the John Carroll Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maryland (Archbishop Curley is ranked 45th, while John Carroll is ranked 40th).
After a string of three wins, Archbishop Curley's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a hard 27-10 fall against Riverdale Baptist.
Meanwhile, John Carroll can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They claimed a resounding 34-7 win over Our Lady of Mount Carmel at home. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as John Carroll just coasted through the last quarter.
Avin Alexandre had a dynamite game for John Carroll, rushing for 246 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries. Alexandre's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards.
Riverdale Baptist's victory bumped their season record to 6-3 while Archbishop Curley's defeat dropped theirs to 5-4.
Archbishop Curley was able to grind out a solid win over John Carroll in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, winning 17-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for Archbishop Curley since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
