Basketball Game Preview: Cocoa Beach Minutemen vs. Merritt Island Christian Cougars

Cocoa Beach hasn't had much luck against Merritt Island Christian recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Having just played yesterday, the Cocoa Beach Minutemen will head out on the road to face off against the Merritt Island Christian Cougars at 7:00 p.m.

Cocoa Beach's tournament run continued when they took on Space Coast on Thursday. Cocoa Beach was beaten by Space Coast 50-22. While losing is never fun, the Minutemen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 468th, while the Vipers are ranked 180th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Merritt Island Christian). They strolled past Calvary Chapel Academy with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 63-44. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Cocoa Beach's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Merritt Island Christian, their win bumped their record up to 4-9.
