Softball Recap: Gaylord's Run of Six Straight Victories Now Over

After flying high against Portage Central on Saturday, Gaylord came back down to earth. The Blue Devils fell just short of the Gladstone Braves by a score of 4-3 on Saturday. The Blue Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Braves apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

Gaylord saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lilly Lauer, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Gaylord moved to 17-3 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak. As for Gladstone, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gaylord will face off against Petoskey at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Northmen's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Blue Devils' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Gladstone, they will challenge Escanaba at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
