Hammond Baptist had already won four in a row dating back to last season (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.5 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They came within five points of losing the streak, but they secured a 44-39 W against the Westlake Christian Academy Eagles. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Swordsmen also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2019.

Westlake Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was James Leach, who posted ten points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Noah Speckman, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 14 points and six rebounds.

Hammond Baptist's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Westlake Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Hammond Baptist will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Hebron Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on December 9. As for Westlake Christian Academy, they are headed away from home for the first time to take on HomeSchool Resource Center at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
