Basketball Game Preview: Alief Elsik Rams vs. Cinco Ranch Cougars

The Alief Elsik Rams will head out to take on the Cinco Ranch Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, Alief Elsik didn't have too much trouble with George Ranch as they won 51-35. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 365th, while the Longhorns are ranked 798th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Cinco Ranch entered their tilt with Morton Ranch last Friday with 12 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 13. They enjoyed a cozy 67-52 win over the Mavericks. The Cougars pushed the score to 53-25 by the end of the third, a deficit the Mavericks cut but never quite recovered from.

Alief Elsik better keep an eye on Aniya' Foy. She was instrumental in Cinco Ranch's win, going 8 for 18 en route to 24 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. Foy is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last 52 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Lydia Polk, who posted nine points along with seven boards and three steals.

Cinco Ranch smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.

Cinco Ranch's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 25-5. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points over those games. As for Alief Elsik, their record now sits at 17-14.
