Basketball Game Preview: Lawndale Cardinals vs. Santa Monica Vikings

Lawndale is 1-9 against Santa Monica since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Lawndale Cardinals will take on the Santa Monica Vikings at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Lawndale lost 70-50 to Leuzinger on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 313th, while the Olympians are ranked 87th).

Meanwhile, Santa Monica suffered their closest defeat since January 16, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of Rancho Mirage by a score of 60-57.

Santa Monica has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season. As for Lawndale, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-7.

Lawndale strolled past Santa Monica in their previous matchup back in December of 2021 by a score of 60-46. Does Lawndale have another victory up their sleeve, or will Santa Monica turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
