Softball Recap: Harmony Grove Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Malvern, Harmony Grove was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the Magnolia Panthers by a score of 11-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cardinals considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Macee Tidwell made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run.

In other batting news, Andres Andres was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Cayleigh Whaley was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Harmony Grove hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters every time they've taken the field this season.

Harmony Grove now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Magnolia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harmony Grove is headed away from home for the first time to challenge Mayflower at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Magnolia, they will head out to face off against Lake Hamilton at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolves have averaged an impressive 9.4 runs per game this season.
