Volleyball Game Preview: Rosary Academy Royals vs. Laguna Beach Breakers

Rosary Academy is a perfect 3-0 against Laguna Beach since September of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Royals will face off against the Breakers at 5:15 p.m. Rosary Academy will be strutting in after a win while Laguna Beach will be coming in after a loss.

Rosary Academy's tournament run continued when they took on Clovis East on Saturday. The Royals came out on top against the Timberwolves by a score of 3-1.

Rosary Academy can attribute much of their success to Elizabeth Riebli, who had 22 assists and two aces, and Kate Duarte, who had 12 digs, seven kills, four aces, and one block. That's the most aces Riebli has posted over her last 12 matches.

They weren't the only good servers: Rosary Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. They are a perfect 13-0 when they serve at least ten aces.

Meanwhile, Laguna Beach came up short against Northwood on Thursday and fell 3-1. The Breakers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-21, 23-25, 25-14.

Rosary Academy's victory bumped their record up to 20-8. As for Laguna Beach, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-19.

Rosary Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Laguna Beach in their previous meeting on September 11th, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Royals since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
