Football Recap: Allen Extends Winning Streak to 13

With a playoff win on the line, Allen rose to the challenge on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Permian Panthers 56-13. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 11 games by 33 points or more so far this season.

Lyndon Spriggs continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 134 yards and three TDs on only 14 carries. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Josyah Johnson, who picked up 80 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Allen was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 262 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Permian only rushed for 142.

Another reason for the win was Allen's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for seven sacks. In that department, Josh Shaw was the leader with two.

When it comes to explaining why Permian lost, don't look at Gavin Black. Despite the final result, he rushed for 128 yards while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. Black was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 53 yards.

The win keeps Allen at an undefeated 13-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.2 points on average this season. As for Permian, the defeat snapped their winning streak at 11 games and leaves them with a 11-2 record.

Allen has already played their next contest, a 33-21 win against North Crowley on the 5th. Permian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
