Basketball Game Preview: Kokomo Wildkats vs. Anderson Indians

For the first time this season, Kokomo will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will welcome the Anderson Indians at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Anderson took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Kokomo, who comes in off a win.

Kokomo is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 77-22 victory over Fort Wayne South Side. The win continues a trend for the Wildkats in their matchups with the Archers: they've now won four in a row.

Kokomo's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Amara Stroman led the charge by shooting 45% from the field en route to 16 points in addition to seven steals and six assists. Those seven steals gave Stroman a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jhordyn Brown, who went 8-for-17 on her way to 18 points and seven rebounds.

Kokomo smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort Wayne South Side only pulled down three offensive rebounds.

Meanwhile, Anderson played a tough game on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 65-39 to Lawrence North.

Kokomo will have to contain Ariah Scott as she made an impact in Anderson's last game. She posted 14 points and four steals. Scott has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Amiya Fleming was another key player, putting up seven points and five boards.

Anderson now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Kokomo, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.

Kokomo strolled past Anderson in their previous meeting back in November of 2024 by a score of 54-35. Do the Wildkats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Indians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
