Basketball Game Preview: Elkhorn South Storm vs. Omaha Central Eagles

Elkhorn South hasn't had much luck against Omaha Central recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Elkhorn South Storm will look to defend their home court against the Omaha Central Eagles at 7:15 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

It was a classic North v. South duel when Elkhorn South duked it out withOmaha North on Friday. Elkhorn South walked away with a 57-45 win over Omaha North. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Storm.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Omaha Central's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell to Bellevue West 65-60. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while the Thunderbirds are ranked 20th).

Elkhorn South will need focus on slowing down Evan Rodgers, one of several Omaha Central players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalen Partridge, who put up 12 points.

Elkhorn South is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 3-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.5 points per game. As for Omaha Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.

Elkhorn South came up short against Omaha Central when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 65-60. Can Elkhorn South avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
