With a playoff win on the line, Fitzgerald rose to the challenge on Friday. They blew past the Academy for Classical Education Gryphons 42-9. The result was nothing new for the Purple Hurricane, who have now won six contests by 23 points or more so far this season.

Victor Copeland had another great game (as he tends to do), picking up 80 receiving yards and one touchdown, while also rushing for 82 yards on only seven carries. Daniel Harris was another key player, rushing for 60 yards and one TD on only seven carries.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Fitzgerald proved: they limited Academy for Classical Education to a paltry 3.5 yards per carry. That's the most yards per carry they've posted since back in August.

Fitzgerald didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Zavion Nolton, Howard Jackson, and Eduan Carter picked up one apiece.

Despite the loss, Academy for Classical Education had strong showings from Bryson Vincent, who gained 102 total yards, and Brady Balkcom, who picked up 59 receiving yards.

Fitzgerald's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.8 points over those games. As for Academy for Classical Education, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-6.

Coming up, Fitzgerald is taking a road trip to square off against Dublin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Fighting Irish's defense has only allowed 13 points per game this season, so the Purple Hurricane's offense will have their work cut out for them. Academy for Classical Education does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
