Basketball Recap: Cumberland Now 4-1 over Last Five Games

Vandalia came into Thursday's contest looking for another win against Cumberland, but Cameron Roedl wouldn't allow it. The Cumberland Pirates snuck past the Vandalia Vandals with a 44-38 victory on Thursday thanks in part to Roedl, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 19 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Zack Harmon, who posted five points and 11 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played.

Cumberland is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points per game. As for Vandalia, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.

Coincidentally, Cumberland and Vandalia will both be playing Shelbyville the next time they take the court. Cumberland will head out to face Shelbyville at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, while Vandalia will head out to face them at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday.
