Softball Recap: Waupun Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Waupun entered their tilt with Poynette on Monday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Pumas get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. Considering the Warriors have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Addison Braun was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Hannah Bade was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alexis Babiash, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Waupun always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Poynette only posted an OBP of .118.

Waupun's record now sits at 12-2. As for Poynette, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-4.

Waupun and Poynette should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. The Warriors will square off against Lake Mills at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (13 vs. 274). Meanwhile, Poynette (ranked 32nd) will meet Lodi (ranked 113th) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Pumas 2.9, the Blue Devils 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
