Flag Football Recap: San Leandro Takes a Loss

San Leandro extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 5-7. They had to suffer through a 39-0 loss at the hands of the Castro Valley Trojans. If the Pirates were looking for revenge after losing 26-6 to the Trojans when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Castro Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. 39 seems to be a good number for them as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Castro Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Erikka Flores, who threw for 139 yards and five touchdowns, and also rushed for 40 yards. Those five passing touchdowns gave Flores a new career-high. Castro Valley's leading receiver Jazlyne Reyes-Neil was Flores' top target yet again, picking up 44 receiving yards and three TDs.

San Leandro has already played their next contest (against Hayward), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Castro Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Encinal at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Jets' defense has only allowed 7.6 points per game this season, so the Trojans' offense will have their work cut out for them.
