Softball Recap: Akins Eagles vs. Anderson Trojans
Akins had lost ten straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 0-2 to make it 11. They came up short against the Anderson Trojans, falling 10-1. The Eagles were not able to make up for their defeat to the Trojans from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
As for Anderson, their record now sits at 2-3. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
For Anderson's part, Taylor Coggin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Coggin has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those RBI were her first of the season.
In other batting news, Lauren Montalvo was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Katey Fudge, who went 3-for-4 with four runs and one RBI.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Akins will take on Dripping Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Anderson, they will challenge LBJ Austin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
