Softball Game Preview: Valley Mills Eagles vs. Lipan Indians

The Valley Mills Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Lipan Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

The home team had won the previous two meetings between Valley Mills and Moody, and Moody kept the tradition alive. The Eagles fell just short of the Bearcats by a score of 4-3 on Friday.

Meanwhile, Lipan entered their tilt with Santo on Tuesday with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Wildcats a 1-0 shutout. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Indians have posted since April 24, 2025.

Santo's batters probably weren't too happy with Lily Springstead, who pitched a no hitter and racked up eight Ks (she gave up three walks). Springstead has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ryan Atkinson, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

Lipan's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Valley Mills, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.

Valley Mills got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 against Lipan by a conclusive 20-6 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Indians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
