Soccer Game Preview: Blue Ridge Early College vs. Highlands

Blue Ridge Early College is 0-10 against Highlands since April of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Bobcats will square off against the Highlanders at 6:00 p.m.

Blue Ridge Early College is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game on Tuesday. They took a 4-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cherokee.

Meanwhile, Highlands had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.3 goals) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 3-0 shutout. Considering Highlands have won six contests by more than two goals this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Highlands pushed their record up to 8-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 12 goals over those three matchups. As for Blue Ridge Early College, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.

Blue Ridge Early College suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Highlands in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Bobcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
