Volleyball Recap: Whitfield Comes Up Short

Whitfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 3-0 to the Lutheran South Lancers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-18, 25-18.

When it comes to explaining why Whitfield lost, don't look at Natalie Michelman. Despite the final result, she had 20 digs and two assists. Michelman is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 14 or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Lutheran South can attribute much of their success to Cameron Slinkard, who had 16 digs and one assist. Those 16 digs gave Slinkard a new career-high.

Whitfield's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Lutheran South, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-5.

Whitfield has already played their next match (against Lutheran North), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Lutheran South, they will challenge Lutheran at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
