Recap: Bishop McLaughlin Catholic Hurricanes vs. Keswick Christian Crusaders
The Bishop McLaughlin Catholic Hurricanes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They took a 47-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Keswick Christian. Bishop McLaughlin Catholic was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Keswick Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played on January 2nd.
Bishop McLaughlin Catholic lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jake Mekdeci, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Mekdeci pulled down eight or more rebounds. Wilner Rene was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
Keswick Christian was led to victory by Zach Bingham and Grant Cook. Bingham scored 16 points along with two steals, while Cook scored 15 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that Bingham scored 15 or more points.
Bishop McLaughlin Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Keswick Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 5-14.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop McLaughlin Catholic will take on Academy at the Lakes at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Academy at the Lakes focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 last Friday. As for Keswick Christian, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against The Classical Academy of Sarasota at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. The Classical Academy of Sarasota is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
