The Wake County HomeSchool Warriors are taking a road trip to take on the Ashley Screaming Eagle at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Wake County HomeSchool is headed into the matchup having just posted their closest win since April 15, 2024 on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past South Johnston 3-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.
Wake County HomeSchool got a great performance from Eli Dadisman as he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Avery Martin, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gabriel Ferrell, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Ashley got the win against Swansboro on Tuesday by a conclusive 10-1.
Will Hartzell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Jackson Lee looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024.
Back at the plate, Quinn Bentley was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-4. Tanner Berry was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Ashley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Swansboro only posted a batting average of .136.
Ashley's record is now 2-0. As for Wake County HomeSchool, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
