Basketball Recap: Blake Green's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Robinson over Bloomfield

The Robinson Maroons lost 76-51 to the Bloomfield Cardinals on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Maroons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 621st in Illinois, while the Cardinals are ranked 143rd in Indiana).

Robinson's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Blake Green, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 19 points and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Maxwell, who posted ten points and five rebounds.

Green wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Robinson was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Robinson's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Bloomfield, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

Robinson won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Parke Heritage at 11:30 a.m. on Friday. As for Bloomfield, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Clay City at 7:30 p.m. on January 11, 2025.
