Recap: Buchtel Griffins vs. Ellet Orangemen
The Buchtel Griffins lost against the Ellet Orangemen back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Buchtel's tough 52-28 loss to Ellet might stick with them for a while. Buchtel has not had much luck with Ellet recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Ellet got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Caitlyn Holmes out in front who scored 17 points along with six assists and six steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for Holmes. The team also got some help courtesy of Sanaiiya Gray, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Buchtel's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Ellet, they pushed their record up to 4-2 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.
Buchtel will head out on the road to face off against Garfield at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ellet, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Archbishop Hoban at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Archbishop Hoban presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Ellet in Ohio (Archbishop Hoban is ranked fourth, while Ellet is ranked 265th).
