Baseball Game Preview: Groveton Indians vs. Corrigan-Camden Bulldogs

The Groveton Indians will challenge the Corrigan-Camden Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Groveton is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games.

While Groveton's victory against West Sabine wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Indians had just enough and edged out the Tigers 6-4.

JAKE PLOTTS made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

PLOTTS wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was CADE WHITE, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5. Another was DAX PARKER, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Corrigan-Camden). They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-11 win over West Sabine on Friday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Bulldogs as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Groveton's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Corrigan-Camden, their win bumped their record up to 3-10-1.

Groveton was able to grind out a solid victory over Corrigan-Camden in their previous matchup two weeks ago, winning 5-0. Do the Indians have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
