Baseball Recap: Oratory Prep Comes Up Short

Oratory Prep extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 8-14. They fell 6-3 to the Cranford Cougars. The Rams were not able to make up for their loss to the Cougars from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

As for Cranford, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

For Cranford's part, Gabe Arato spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on five hits.

At the plate, Cranford let Michael Tripodi and Jackson Schoening run wild. Tripodi went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run, while Schoening went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits Schoening has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Ketschke, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Oratory Prep has already played their next matchup (against Summit), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Cranford will be paying especially close attention to the Rams' game: after the Rams face off against Johnson, they'll take on Cranford again at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
