Soccer Game Preview: Newman Smith vs. The Colony

The Newman Smith Trojans will face off against The Colony Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with nine consecutive losses apiece.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Newman Smith's offense. They fell just short of Wakeland by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 668th, while the Wolverines are ranked third).

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when The Colony challenged Reedy on Tuesday. The Colony lost 8-0 to Reedy.

Newman Smith's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for The Colony, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.

Newman Smith beat The Colony by a goal in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, winning 2-1. Will Newman Smith repeat their success, or does The Colony have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
