Basketball Game Preview: Santa Fe Christian Eagles vs. Cathedral Catholic Dons

The Santa Fe Christian Eagles will square off against the Cathedral Catholic Dons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, Santa Fe Christian was able to grind out a solid win over Bishop's, taking the game 48-37. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 60th, while the Knights are ranked 291st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Cathedral Catholic humbled Scripps Ranch with an 89-52 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Dons.

Cathedral Catholic pushed their record up to 18-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.3 points over those games. As for Santa Fe Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season.

Santa Fe Christian strolled past Cathedral Catholic in their previous meeting back in December of 2018 by a score of 69-52. Will Santa Fe Christian repeat their success, or does Cathedral Catholic have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
