Basketball Recap: Elgin Takes a Loss

Elgin had lost 15 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-2 to make it 16. They were beaten by the Crystal Lake Central Tigers 62-32. The Maroons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2016.

As for Crystal Lake Central, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. They not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since December 27, 2024 (when they won 74-38).

Aidan Watson went supernova, shooting 70% from the field en route to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bud Shanahan, who posted 13 points.

Elgin has already played their next matchup (against Belvidere), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Crystal Lake Central, they will square off against Dundee-Crown at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The game will give the Tigers their first taste of in-conference action this season.
