Baseball Recap: Utica Comes Up Short

Utica had lost five straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 7-16 to make it six. They fell just short of the Northridge Vikings by a score of 4-3. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, with their most recent loss being a 9-7 defeat back in April.

Utica saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aaron Hays, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Northridge, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-9. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch.

On Northridge's side, the team relied heavily on Collin Matheson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs. Matheson has become a key player for the Vikings: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 7-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Reeves, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

As of now, neither Utica nor Northridge have any future games scheduled.
