Softball Recap: Mcloud Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

McLoud proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by six) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the Cushing Tigers. For the Redskins, this counts as revenge for the 12-9 win the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2019.

McLoud's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kayse Higdon, who went 1-for-2 with two runs. Taycee Lewis was another, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

McLoud's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Cushing, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McLoud will challenge Amber-Pocasset at 2:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Cushing, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Tuttle at 5:00 p.m. on the 16th.
