The Jackson Fighting Indians will challenge the Eureka Wildcats at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Jackson is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Incarnate Word Academy just ended the team's 23-match winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against the Red Knights, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Fighting Indians have suffered since November 2, 2024.
While Jackson ultimately came up short, they really made Incarnate Word Academy work, particularly in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 26-24, 25-18.
Meanwhile, Eureka didn't have quite enough to beat Kirkwood on Tuesday and fell 3-2. While the Wildcats didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Pioneers 25-12 in the first set.
Eureka actually scored more points across those five sets (112-103), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 12-25, 27-25, 20-25, 25-20, 19-17.
Eureka's loss dropped their record down to 15-13-1. As for Jackson, their defeat dropped their record down to 33-2.
Jackson skirted past Eureka 3-2 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Will the Fighting Indians repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
