Basketball Game Preview: Franklin Wildcats vs. Oak Ridge Trojans

Franklin hasn't had much luck against Oak Ridge recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Franklin Wildcats are taking a road trip to square off against the Oak Ridge Trojans at 9:00 p.m. Franklin will be strutting in after a victory while Oak Ridge will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with seven losses in a row dating back to last season, Franklin turned things around against Lodi on Saturday. They skirted past the Flames 41-39. The Wildcats' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Franklin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cara Nguyen led the charge by going 6 for 13 on her way to 14 points. What's more, Nguyen also racked up four boards, the most she's had since back in January. Rhiannon Esguerra was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Meanwhile, Oak Ridge lost to Folsom on the road by a 75-61 margin on Saturday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (55), the Trojans still had to take the loss.

Oak Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Franklin, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.

Franklin might still be hurting after the 54-31 loss they got from Oak Ridge when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Franklin avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
