Preview: Alta Hawks vs. Lone Peak Knights
The Alta Hawks will square off against the Lone Peak Knights at 6:20 p.m. on Thursday. Lone Peak took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Alta, who comes in off a win.
Alta and American Fork (ranked 42 and 85 in the MaxPreps national rankings respectively) squared off in a high-profile match. Alta came out on top against American Fork by a score of 71-60 last Wednesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Jaxon Johnson went supernova for Alta, scoring 28 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least 25% of Alta's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Doleac, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Lone Peak was the victim of a tough 63-40 loss at the hands of Timpview last Wednesday.
The opposite results left the teams with opposite records: Alta's victory pushed their record up to 2-0, while American Fork's defeat dropped theirs down to 0-2.
Alta beat Lone Peak 63-53 in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Does Alta have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lone Peak turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
