Soccer Game Preview: Andrew vs. Sandburg

The Andrew Thunderbolts are taking a road trip to face off against the Sandburg Eagles at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Andrew's last three matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Andrew gave up the first goal on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They won by a goal and slipped past Bradley-Bourbonnais 3-2. Andrew haven't had any issues with Bradley-Bourbonnais recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Andrew hit Bradley-Bourbonnais with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Vince Swedberg, Nate Fortino, and Khattab Jaradat.

Despite a strong season so far, Sandburg has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They came up short against Lockport on Tuesday, falling 5-1. The contest was a close 2-1 at the break, but unfortunately for Sandburg it sure didn't stay that way.

Sandburg's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Andrew, their win bumped their record up to 4-5-2.

Andrew was able to grind out a solid victory over Sandburg in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, winning 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Thunderbolts since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
