Basketball Recap: Beecher Comes Up Short

After flying high against Genesee last Tuesday, Beecher came back down to earth. The Beecher Buccaneers had to suffer through a 86-45 loss at the hands of the Hamady Hawks. While losing is never fun, the Buccaneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 454th, while the Hawks are ranked 142nd).

Hamady's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Antonio Moore led the charge by going 6 of 9 on his way to 14 points and four steals. Jordan McClain was another key player, going 9 for 10 en route to 18 points.

Beecher moved to 4-7 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Hamady, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-1.

Beecher is taking a road trip to square off against Atherton at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. As for Hamady, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Bendle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
