Basketball Game Preview: Eau Gallie Commodores vs. Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy Tigers

Eau Gallie hasn't had much luck against Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Eau Gallie Commodores will venture away from home to take on the Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Eau Gallie took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Heritage by a score of 54-46. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Commodores as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Eau Gallie to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tyson Thomas, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 14 points and three steals. Those three steals gave Thomas a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cohin Worthy, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 13 points.

Meanwhile, Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy took their contest on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 65-27 victory over Astronaut. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while the War Eagles are ranked 586th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points per game. As for Eau Gallie, their record now sits at 4-10.

Eau Gallie took a serious blow against Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, falling 89-59. Can Eau Gallie avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
