Volleyball Recap: Whiting Oilers vs. Washington Township Senators

Whiting was the 2-0 winner over Washington Township when they last played one another back in August of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Oilers fell 2-0 to the Senators on Saturday.

The final score came out to 25-16, 25-21.

Liliana Lozano paced Whiting's offense, picking up 11 kills. Lozano got some help from Andrea Cabrales and her ten assists. Cabrales was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Whiting's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Washington Township, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Whiting will host Hammond Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Oilers are facing the Wolves at the right time seeing as the Wolves are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Washington Township, they will be playing at home against Westville at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
