Baseball Game Preview: Barrington Fillies/Broncos vs. Deerfield Warriors

The Barrington Fillies/Broncos will challenge the Deerfield Warriors at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Barrington's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over Wheaton-Warrenville South.

Will Renshaw looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Juilan Ashley-Friedman, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Jack Swarbrick, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Deerfield won against Antioch on Saturday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Warriors walked away with an 8-5 win over Vernon Hills. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won four in a row.

Barrington has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Deerfield, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.

Barrington beat Deerfield 13-8 when the teams last played back in May of 2016. Will the Fillies/Broncos repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
