Preview: Platte Canyon Huskies vs. Clear Creek Golddiggers
Platte Canyon is 2-7 against Clear Creek since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Platte Canyon Huskies will head out on the road to face off against the Clear Creek Golddiggers at 5:30 p.m. Clear Creek took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Platte Canyon, who comes in off a win.
Platte Canyon had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 28-16 win over Colorado Springs School. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 14 to 5 on the offensive boards, as Platte Canyon did.
Sydney Curtis was the offensive standout of the game as she dropped a double-double on 11 points and 10 steals.
Meanwhile, Clear Creek couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were the victim of a tough 43-20 loss at the hands of Front Range Baptist on Monday.
Indie Crawford put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 10 points.
Platte Canyon's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Clear Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Everything came up roses for Platte Canyon against Clear Creek in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 36-5 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Platte Canyon since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
