Football Game Preview: Norwich Free Academy Wildcats vs. New Britain Golden Hurricanes + How To Watch

The Norwich Free Academy Wildcats will square off against the New Britain Golden Hurricanes at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

New Britain will take on a Wildcats team in a cheerful holiday mood after the team's game against New London on Thanksgiving. Norwich Free Academy enjoyed a cozy 28-12 victory over the Whalers on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Xavier Sebastian had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 74 yards and one score on only seven carries, and also picked up 34 receiving yards. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in September. Another big playmaker for Norwich Free Academy was Makiye Howard, who returned a punt for a touchdown.

Norwich Free Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Howard and Sebastian.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask New Britain). They breezed past Manchester to the tune of 68-30 back in November. The Golden Hurricanes pushed the score to 54-30 by the end of the third, a deficit the Red Hawks had little chance of recovering from.

New Britain's win came from a few key players Norwich Free Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Billy Seymour, who rushed for 107 yards and a pair of TDs on only eight carries, and also threw for 220 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 passes. Jayden Allen was another key rusher, rushing for 119 yards and three scores on only ten carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: New Britain was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 346 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 209 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

One reason for the win was New Britain's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Amari Crawley with two.

Norwich Free Academy's record is now 6-4. As for New Britain, their record now sits at 8-1.

Norwich Free Academy couldn't quite get it done against New Britain when the teams last played back in September of 2023 as they fell 21-14. Thankfully for the Wildcats, Cayden Hill (who rushed for 168 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 8.0 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time.
