Football Recap: Denver East Angels vs. Ralston Valley Mustangs

Denver East extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-8. They had to suffer through a 48-7 loss at the hands of the Ralston Valley Mustangs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Angels of the 44-18 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Denver East lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Declan Macdonald, who threw for 267 yards and one touchdown. A healthy portion of that aerial production (115 yards to be exact) went to Cazhjuan Campbell.

As for Ralston Valley, their win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0. Those road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.5 points on average over those games.

Logan Gabler had an outrageously good game as he threw for 238 yards and five TDs while completing 76.9% of his passes, and also rushed for 88 yards on only nine carries. Those 88 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Ralston Valley's leading receiver Nico Benallo was Gabler's top target yet again, picking up 134 receiving yards and three scores.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Denver East will take on rival Denver South at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Ralston Valley is set to face off against their familiar foe Arvada West at 7:30 p.m. on the 31st. That game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Zeke Andrews and Logan Duhachek.
