Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Walden Grove

Walden Grove waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Safford Bulldogs by a score of 4-1. The Wolves have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bulldogs, too.

The team relied heavily on Ava McDuffy, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Jayden Gonzales also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Walden Grove now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Safford, they now have a losing record of 10-11.

Walden Grove and Safford could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings. The Wolves will challenge Mica Mountain at 4:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (68 vs. 4). Meanwhile, Safford (ranked 103rd) will meet Empire (ranked 18th) at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
