Volleyball Recap: Avon Extends Winning Streak to Five

It's playoff time, and Avon had no trouble coming through when it counted. They blew past the Magnificat Blue Streaks 3-0 on Saturday. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Blue Streaks back in October, they had to take a 3-1 defeat.

The win didn't come easy: Magnificat scored at least 21 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-23, 28-26.

Avon found their leader in sophomore Ally Brediger, who had 24 digs and four assists. Brediger is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 15 or more in each of the last four games she's played.

The victory (which was Avon's fifth in a row) raised their record to 26-1. As for Magnificat, their loss ended a five-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 22-5.

Looking ahead, Avon will face off against Anthony Wayne at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. Magnificat does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
