Volleyball Game Preview: Brighton Bulldogs vs. Pueblo West Cyclones

The Brighton Bulldogs will face off against the Pueblo West Cyclones at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Pueblo West will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Brighton extended their winning streak to four on Thursday. Everything went the Bulldogs' way against Mountain Range as they made off with a 3-0 win.

While Brighton might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Mountain Range scored at least 18 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-18, 25-20.

Meanwhile, Pueblo West made easy work of Liberty on Tuesday and carried off a 3-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Cyclones in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now won six in a row.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Pueblo West was: they took every set by at least 12 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 25-13, 25-13.

Pueblo West had a senior duo take command as Bricelyn Baudino had nine digs and two aces and Jillian Millirons had 11 digs and two aces. Those 11 digs set a new season-high mark for Millirons.

Pueblo West's victory bumped their record up to 16-3. As for Brighton, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday's contest: Brighton has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 11.6 aces per game. However, it's not like Pueblo West struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.6 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Brighton came up short against Pueblo West in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, falling 2-0. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
