Volleyball Recap: Lanier Triumphs

Lanier posted their closest victory since August 19th on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Juarez-Lincoln Huskies.

Lanier had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 27-25, 15-7.

Among those leading the charge was Leah Vasquez, who had six blocks and five kills. Those six blocks gave her a new career-high.

The victory got Lanier back to even at 7-7. As for Juarez-Lincoln, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Looking ahead, Lanier will be playing in front of their home fans against Seguin at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Matadors will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Voks surely won't give up without a fight. As for Juarez-Lincoln, they will host Roma at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
